Ok, so I know that I usually just post pics of Emma but can you blame me, she's so cute. I'd post more but I think you'd all get tired of it. However, now that we are far away from most family and friends, I thought an update on our little family might be in order. Cale is enjoying teaching 6th grade. He is starting an intern program reimbursed by the district to get his elementary degree. (For those of you who don't know, the whole reciprocity of his secondary certificate did not happen as we were told it would. Instead he needs a full blown elementary degree). He can do a lot online and get it done in a year or two and then will start his principal ship degree and NAU. He also just started coaching flag football for the school. They had their first game last night and won 8-0! He has one tiny little girl on the team and she scored the 2 point conversion! This was actually the first time the school has won in years!
I am staying at home with Emma which is great. We have lots of fun together even if our days are pretty laid back. I had the apartment unpacked in less than a week and actually have a place for everything! It's great. I need to start scrapbooking since I now have a place for it all. I also have lots of things on my to do list that I keep putting off but now have time to do.
Emma is as the pictures show a delight. She is getting over a cold and has become a little whiny but that's allowed when you are sick! She helps me do lots of stuff!

Trying to Crawl
Smiley!
Emma has thankfully stopped gaining so much weight. I don't know if I can't keep carrying her around everywhere! Just kidding but really 18 pounds is heavy! However, she has thankfully not stopped smiling! SHe is always so happy and cheerful and thinks she is so funny. SHe laughs at herself ...and me all the time!

Firsts
Ok, wow where to begin? So much time has passed. Emma has done so many new firsts! I thought I'd just share some pics of her first eating solids, first holding her own bottle, first time in her new crib, first shoes and painted toenails and first time sitting in a shopping cart! These pictures span from about 4 1/2 months to 5 1/2 months.

Back online!
Well, we have finally rejoined the internet world! We have felt so disconnected and I'm sure you all have missed the wonderful pics of the Allen family...ok, just pics of Emma! Well, get ready becasue they are soon to come but not tonight...I'm exhausted. We also finally have a home phone: 928-457-0200. I'm sure it will be very easy to remember with all those zeroes!
We just wanted to finally thank all those you helped us make this big move to Arizona. We are loving it down here and Cale and is enjoying his new job, albeit he is a little overwhelmed too. Emma is now sitting up, rolling front to back and back to front, sleeping in a crib, eating rice cereal and baby food (pears and sweet potatoes so far), teething, scooting backwards and working on crawling! Wow, she changes so much so fast! She can really cover a lot of ground now by rolling over and over and scooting. She goes backwards great but still snowplows her way forward with her head down!
We miss all our friends and family from Idaho and hope you'll come visit us soon!

More Jumping
Just one more jumping clip. She is really getting the hang of it now! She loves to jump!
"Emma" Jump Up
I have been wanting to get Emma a "Jenny Jump Up" forever now. I thought she had to be able to sit by herself though and so I've been waiting. But while in Walmart yesterday I saw one and it said 4 months to walking age...So I got yet another baby item! You should see our apartment. Where there are not boxes stacked waiting for moving day, there are baby items: swing, stroller, car seat carrier, clothes, toys, blanket spread out to play on, diaper bag, and now a Jenny Jumper!
At first Emma, just wanted to twirl in circles. I think her right leg is longer than her left! But she quickly started jumping as you can see at the end of the video clip.
Pony Dress
Grandma Young bought this dress for Emma before Emma was born. She just loved the little tights. The hanger it was on said 6 months so it was hung up with her 6 months dresses waiting to be worn. Well, I took it off the hanger to wear to church this last week and the dress said 3 months! Oops! Luckily it's a longer dress so it still fits. The tights are actually a bit big though! I'm just glad we got to wear it cuz she sure it cute!

"Are you sure the tights don't go on my head grandma?"
Emma wore them this way all night. She didn't even try to take them off. We even went on a stroller walk this way!

Little Stinker
Emma has really started to show her personality. She has never minded diaper changes, other than the first week of her life, and I really think it is because of her snazzy "lil' Stinker" chaning table that I made for her. (j/k) At about 3 months she started hanging on but now she wraps herself around it. Guess I can't leave her on it anymore while I wash my hands!
Rolling Over
I have been trying to get a video clip of Emma rolling over for a couple weeks now. I finally got one today. It's short but cute. By the way, she only rolls back to front, which they usually do closer to 6 months. She is supposed to roll front to back right about now but when I put her on her tummy, she just embraces it and lays her head down...or lately, she tries to "crawl" - which entails pulling her legs under her to turn in a circle - head burried of course!

Warm River
Brett, Brittany, Matt, Nicole, Olivia, and Jared went camping 2 weekends ago and we went up to visit them for an afternoon. It was really buggy so we didn't stay more than a few hours but it was relaxing...hot, but relaxing. Since it was so hot, we decided to let Emma dip her toes in the cool stream....she yanked her feet lickety-split and was a little upset with us! oops! Don't worry, Cale won her over by giving her a little Dew. Just kidding.

Moving Date Bumped Up!
Well, it appears that we are no longer moving on August 3rd, or July 21, but rather we are now moving July 19th! Our new landlord would like us to move in July 19th and we have nothing holding us here so our plan is to load the truck on the 18th, go to bed early and head out Saturday morning early early. Cale will drive the truck and tow the Focus and of course Mr. S will ride with him. Emma and I will drive the Escape. Cross your fingers that Emma sleeps well and doesn't take to long to eat since we won't ahve someon in the back to feed her while I drive. :-( ...unless anyone would like to volunteer to go with us!
The landlord told us that we are in Snowflake 5th ward and that he'd call the bishop and have him call us to arrange for the Elder's Quorum to help us unload the truck. Guess there's something to say for moving into a predominantly LDS community! hehe
